Wolf Creek Ski Area in Colorado has announced its opening day for the 2024-25 season: Tuesday, October 22. While not the first U.S. resort to open this year, Wolf Creek will offer significantly more terrain than early-season competitors.

From opening day, Wolf Creek will operate seven days a week. The Bonanza, Treasure, and Nova Lifts will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing access to approximately 30% of the mountain. For beginners, the Magic Carpet will serve the Wolf Pup & Wolf Rider Programs.

Current conditions at Wolf Creek include:

  • 16-inch snow depth at midway
  • 21-inch year-to-date snowfall
  • Machine-groomed trails with early season conditions

Groomed trails ready for skiers and riders include Tranquility, Bonanza Crossover, Navajo Trail, Summer Day, Divide Trail/Kelly Boyce, Powder Puff Valley, Thumper, Charisma, Bunny Hop, Nova, and Susan's. As winter conditions improve, more terrain and lifts will open.

The 2024-25 season marks Wolf Creek's 85th anniversary, which the resort plans to celebrate throughout the winter. Opening Day festivities kick off the celebrations, with visitors encouraged to wear the anniversary colours of red and gold. Commemorative 85th-anniversary stickers will be distributed to guests.

For safety reasons, uphill traffic is currently discouraged due to ongoing snow-making operations and heavy equipment use. Skiers and riders seeking to earn their turns can visit Lobo Overlook as an alternative.

Wolf Creek is offering Local Appreciation Rates for lift tickets:

Adults: $68

Seniors: $49

Children: $34

Additional services available from opening day include:

  • Ski School
  • Ski & Snowboard Rental
  • Treasure Sports
  • Pathfinder Bar
  • Continental Espresso Bar
  • Upper Lodge (limited food service)

As Wolf Creek Ski Area embarks on its 85th season, skiers and riders can look forward to an early start with substantial terrain access and a season full of celebratory events. The combination of natural snowfall, snowmaking efforts, and the resort's commitment to providing a quality experience sets the stage for a promising winter at this historic Colorado ski destination.
