Perisher, Australia: Announces New General Manager

Perisher Ski Resort in Australia has appointed Nathan Butterworth as its new Vice President & General Manager, effective June 12, 2023. Butterworth currently holds the same position at Hotham, where he achieved strong performance records and successfully managed complex initiatives such as the sale of Hotham Airport. Prior to his role at Hotham, Butterworth worked at Perisher for 20 years in various capacities, including Resort Services Director.

Doug Pierini, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, West Region at Vail Resorts, expressed confidence in Butterworth's ability to lead, citing his extensive experience in mountain operations and his knowledge of the Perisher resort and community. Pierini highlighted Butterworth's passion for outdoor activities, snow sports, and environmental sustainability, as well as his commitment to his team and community, which are expected to contribute to the long-term success of Perisher and the Australian ski industry.

Throughout his career, spanning 21 years, Butterworth has made significant contributions to the Australian ski industry. He played a crucial role in the development and launch of Vail Resorts' Epic Australia Pass and was involved in the creation of the Freedom Pass. Butterworth also provided support during the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing the recovery efforts of Vail Resorts Australia and managing several infrastructure projects while prioritising environmental conservation.

Belinda Trembath, the former General Manager of Perisher Ski Resort, has left to assume a position at Whistler Blackcomb in Canada. Nathan Butterworth will replace Trembath as the new Vice President and General Manager of Perisher, effective June 12. Butterworth's leadership at Hotham resulted in the resort achieving its best performance to date, and he successfully managed various initiatives during his tenure, including the sale of Hotham Airport. Before joining Hotham, Butterworth worked at Perisher for 20 years in different roles, including Resort Services Director.

Butterworth expressed his excitement about returning to Perisher, where he initially discovered his passion for the ski industry in 2002. He looks forward to reconnecting with the team and community, emphasising his commitment to starting the snow season strong once again.
