Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain is the largest of the three resorts found situated above Canada’s third largest city Vancouver. Cypress Mountain played host to a number of events and is an Official Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard Venue for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

This resort is small in Canadian terms when compared to other British Columbia resorts but is large enough to keep locals of Vancouver satisfied with greatly groomed runs spread-out over two mountains. What sets Cypress mountain apart is the night riding options, both sides of the resort are light up from sunset until 9pm to cater to Vancouver locals who have worked all day and want to ride in the evening.

Being a ski resort 20 minutes from the centre of Vancouver there is no need to offer overnight accommodation as all the amenities of any traveller can be found in the central business district or suburbs of Vancouver.

The Lion Express takes riders straight up Mt Strachan where beginners can head to the right and make their way to the longest green run at Collins.  Advanced riders can either head to the Sky Chair to reach the summit or make their way to one of the many black runs found directly under the Lions Express.

Cypress Mountain Snow

Cypress Mountain gets over 10m (32ft) of fresh snowfall each season and the mountain grooming team know exactly what do with it. Being located directly on the harbour and low elevation means the fresh snow is thicker and stickier than the BC resorts found on the powder highway, however, remember this is a local city ski resort.

Powder days can be found at Cypress Mountain a number of times throughout the season and we know that everyone will be calling in sick for those days and getting up to the chairlift at 9am.
