Kimberley Alpine Resort

Kimberley ski resort is best known and probably marketed as a family ski resort however don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s all green runs and slow chairs. The ski resort is split up into 4 distinct zones and is a great place to ride and also offers some incredible black diamond gladed zones.

Offering up 728 hectares of rideable terrain across 3 faces of two mountains the resort has a great lineup of ski runs and chairs to keep every kind of rider happy for days on end. Of course, the huge benefit of Kimberley being underestimated is that it is largely deserted. If you want to be greedy and have a run all to yourself, you probably can!

Kimberley Ski resort is situated just above the township of Kimberley (hence the name) and this means most of the accommodation and services can be found in town, however in true Canadian style there are a number of ski in ski out accommodation options found at the resort village. These lucky few will have first tracks access to the resort when those wild powder storms roll through.

Kimberley Alpine Lift System

Kimberley Alpine Resort has one of everything ranging from magic carpets all the way up to a quad chair. The Owl beginner zone gets young or newbie riders comfortable on the magic carpet and T-Bar.

Everyone else will load up onto the Northstar Express quad which runs up the front face of the resort and gives riders access to the longer green runs and a plethora of blue run options.

The more advanced riders can jump off the express quad and head over to the backside of the mountain where they will find blue and black runs weaving through carved out trails or perfectly gladed zones. The Tamarack double and Easter Triple chair will keep these riders lapping these runs in the Tamarack Ridge, Vimy Ridge and Black Forest zones.

Kimberley Resort Snow

Kimberley has a much lower elevation from some of its cousin resorts on the famed Powder Highway however being centrally located in the Purcell Mountain range means the snow cover is reliable and the powder stays nice and dry.

Whilst only 4 metres of the fluffy stuff falls each year the powder last longer in the windswept glades so if you know how to find it you can normally get great runs throughout the trees. The upside is Kimberley is that the resort sees more sunny days than some other resorts. This is perfect for the families and also beginners looking to get into the sport.
