Panorama Mountain Resort

Panorama mountain resort often gets overshadowed by some of its neighbours, but we think that sometimes plays to the benefit of this ski resort. With everyone else being pulled into the likes of Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Revelstoke it means more powder, more fresh turns and minimal lift lines for the lucky explorer who visits the resort.

Serving up over 1,200 hectares of excellent terrain Panorama mountain resort has something to keep every type of rider happy for days on end. 10 lifts span out from the village and high in the resort to ensure everyone is moving around the mountain to the 139 ski runs available.

Just like a range of the British Columbia Panorama mountain resort is a destination resort so they have an array of accommodation options which range from shared dorm rooms, ski lodges, hotel options for everyone and even a range of private chalets. With a snowline that reaches the village all the accommodation is ski in and ski out.

Panorama Resort Lift System

Panorama mountain resort has a perfectly balanced lift operation which gets riders to every corner of the resort. With only two chairlifts coming out of the village they could get congested rather quickly, however once up into the mid mountain and beyond the resort opens up to larger areas.

Advanced and expert riders need to take three separate chairs to get to the summit, however you will only be able to do laps if you stay on the Summit Quad. For the experts who want to get into the Extreme Dream Zone and the Taynton bowl terrain you will need to choose your lines wisely as each run will require two chairs to reach the top again. The benefit is that each run is really long so it’s worth it.

Panorama Snow

Panorama Mountain resort doesn’t quite get the whopping totals of its neighbours like Fernie or Kicking Horse however the resort is on the famed Canadian powder highway so there is lots of snow, light powdery snow.

Getting a decent 5.5m / 18ft of dry Canadian powder each season means the season starts early and normally runs into April. By mid-season and well into January the alpine bowls are normally holding a great base, the incredible and challenging bowls open up to give the extreme riders a place to hone their skills. On the lower half of the mountain the gladed tree riding become exceptional as winds whip the powder deep around the trees.
