Whistler Blackcomb Shares Update On New 8-Person Chairlift
Whistler Blackcomb has been working on enhancing the Fitzsimmons Express lift since late spring, with the goal of converting it from a four-person to an eight-person high-speed detachable chairlift to reduce wait times during peak periods. Construction progress includes the installation of all towers, tower heads, and sheave assemblies, with a target completion date of September 23 for the haul rope splice. The project has also required extensive excavation work at the load station. Additionally, the Jersey Cream lift is set to be upgraded from a 4-pack to a 6-pack in summer 2024, with foundations for 11 out of 15 towers already poured. These improvements aim to enhance the skiing and snowboarding experience at Whistler Blackcomb in the upcoming winter seasons.

Six New Canadian Resorts Join Epic Australia Pass
Vail Resorts has recently announced an exciting expansion of its long-term alliance with the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR). This means that Epic Australia Pass holders will now have access to five world-class ski resorts in Canada, including Fernie Alpine Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort, Nakiska, Mont-Sainte-Anne, and Stoneham. The resort offers over 900 acres of skiable terrain with 37 runs, three lifts, and has been ranked as the #4 ski resort in North America and #1 in Canada for snow. Mt. Seymour To Upgrade Lodge Chair to Quad
A new quad chair is coming to Mt. Seymour, British Columbia, replacing the mountain’s 1985 Mueller double. Doppelmayr Canada will build the Lodge Chair 2.0, a 160 horsepower fixed grip quad with seven towers and 44 chairs. The new lift will transport 1,600 skiers per hour, a 70 percent increase over the current double.
