Resort Overview
Charlotte Pass sits at 1,765 metres, making it Australia's highest alpine village and ski resort. This elevation grants the area consistent snow conditions throughout the winter season. Unlike other Australian ski destinations, Charlotte Pass is completely snowbound during winter, accessible only by oversnow transport from Perisher Valley, creating a unique, vehicle-free village atmosphere. The resort's intimate scale—with just five lifts serving 50 hectares of terrain—offers an uncrowded skiing experience rarely found elsewhere in Australia. With accommodation for only 600 guests, the slopes remain refreshingly open even during peak periods.

Charlotte Pass Lift System
Charlotte Pass features a thoughtfully designed lift system including a triple chair, T-bar, platter lift, and two moving carpets that efficiently serve the entire skiable area. The layout provides excellent progression opportunities, with beginners starting on the carpets before advancing to the longer runs. The Kosciuszko Triple Chair offers access to a variety of intermediate terrain, while the Pulpit T-bar serves challenging slopes for advanced skiers. This compact arrangement means minimal walking between accommodation and lifts—most lodges sit within 100 metres of the snow, delivering true ski-in, ski-out convenience that larger resorts often cannot match.

Location & Getting There
Charlotte Pass occupies a sheltered valley within Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, approximately 460km southwest of Sydney. Its position as Australia's highest permanent settlement provides extraordinary views across the Main Range and Snowy River valley. The resort sits at the end of Kosciuszko Road, which remains uncleared during winter, necessitating the 10km oversnow transport journey from Perisher Valley. This isolation contributes to the area's pristine environment and unique character. The surrounding landscape features glacial terrain formed during the last ice age, creating distinctive topography unlike anywhere else in Australia.
