Rising dramatically in South Tyrol's eastern Dolomites, 3 Zinnen Dolomites offers 115 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes across five interconnected ski areas within a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Named after the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo peaks visible throughout the resort, this award-winning destination combines Italian hospitality with Austrian alpine precision in a trilingual region where Italian, German, and Ladin cultures converge.
The terrain spans Monte Elmo, Stiergarten, Croda Rossa, Monte Baranci, and Passo Monte Croce, with elevations reaching 2,225 metres ensuring reliable conditions across predominantly intermediate slopes. Notable features include the Holzriese run with its 71% gradient—Italy's steepest groomed piste—and the legendary 34-kilometre Giro delle Cime ski circuit traversing all five mountains on a single lift pass.

When to visit 3 Zinnen Dolomites
The 2025/26 season operates from 28 November 2025 through 12 April 2026, with optimal snow conditions from January through March when full terrain access typically extends across all five mountains. The resort's northern Dolomite position captures snowfall from both Dolomite storms and overflow from Alpine weather systems, delivering above-average precipitation compared to southern Dolomite resorts.
Comprehensive snowmaking covers 100% of marked runs, ensuring consistent grooming quality throughout winter despite the relatively modest 1,130-metre base elevation. Monte Baranci offers floodlit night skiing every Tuesday and Friday from 7pm to 10pm, whilst spring brings extended sunshine hours with morning freeze-thaw cycles maintaining excellent conditions on higher north-facing slopes through early April.

Sölden Plans Four-Race World Cup Opener on the Rettenbach Glacier from 2027
Sölden's World Cup opener has been two giant slaloms on the Rettenbach glacier for as long as most fans can remember. From 2027/28 it could be four. Director Jack Falkner wants to add two Super-Gs, backed by a nod from Vincent Kriechmayr, and turn the opening into a full week where the ski world gathers in the Ötztal. FIS and the ÖSV are yet to sign off. This year, it's still just the two GS races on 24 and 25 October.

Hokkaido's lift season now has dates. Sapporo Kokusai opens first on 20 November, Niseko United, Kiroro, Rusutsu and Furano follow on 28 November, and Kamui closes the list on 12 December. Everything hinges on snow, and with a strong El Niño in play, the JMA gives Hokkaido's Japan Sea side a 40% chance of below-normal snowfall. Honshu's Japan Sea coast looks shakier.

Swiss Ski Resorts Post Second-Highest Winter Revenue on Record Despite a Warm Season
Switzerland logged 25.7 million ski days last winter, only 2.3% off the record, in a season that ranked sixth-warmest since records began. Revenue hit CHF 895.8 million, second only to 2024/25. Zermatt led on visits and takings, foreign guests hit a ten-year high, and 12 resorts never opened at all. Snowmaking, late storms and high altitude carried the numbers. Anything sitting at 1,000-1,200 m had a far rougher time.

Understanding the 3 Zinnen Dolomites snow report
Track current conditions at 3 Zinnen Dolomites in Italy. This report covers snowfall totals, base and summit depth, and the forecast across 82 runs.
Snow measurements
Our snow reports measure snowfall in centimeters over multiple time windows — last 24 hours, last 7 days, and the season total. Base depth reflects accumulation at the 1130m base area, while summit depth captures conditions 1070m higher at 2200m, where snow typically stays colder and lingers longer. Imperial conversions are shown alongside for convenience.
Weather conditions
Current weather conditions affect snow quality. Cold temperatures with low wind typically preserve snow quality, while warm temperatures or rain can impact conditions negatively — something worth watching closely at 3 Zinnen Dolomites's 1130m base elevation, where temperatures run milder than the summit.
Data sources
We pull 3 Zinnen Dolomites's conditions from on-the-ground mountain reporting, then layer in forecast data so you get a fuller picture than either source alone. The mountain is served by 24 lifts, including 4 8-person chairlifts and a quad chairlift.
When to check
The biggest swings usually happen right after a storm. Check 3 Zinnen Dolomites's report in the morning for the freshest numbers, and again in the afternoon as conditions evolve.
