Limone Piemonte is a Maritime Alps ski area in the Riserva Bianca, with 52 kilometres of piste across 39 runs between 1,046 and 2,060 metres. The vertical is 1,014 metres. This is a stiff split for its size, with only 13% beginner terrain against 54% intermediate and 33% advanced, and nothing rated expert. That makes it a poor fit for first-timers but a good choice for confident skiers who want a steeper local mountain. The area sits below the Colle di Tenda pass near the French border, and village and mid-mountain bases give several ways onto the slopes.

The Alpetta and Pian del Leone-Pancani lifts reach the higher slopes, and the Cabanaira quad serves about 600 metres of vertical on long, flowing runs. Advanced skiers get plenty of black terrain, while intermediates can progress on the reds. Freeriders talk up the gullies and the Colle di Tenda area for off-piste, though guides and avalanche gear are essential. Limone is best suited to strong intermediates and advanced skiers rather than beginners or families with young children, who will find limited easy ground. The trade-off is a quieter, steeper mountain with a distinctly Piedmontese character.

Limone Piemonte typically operates from mid-December through early April, with peak conditions occurring January through March when the Maritime Alps microclimate delivers consistent snowfall averaging 3.5m annually. The elevation range between 1,046m and 2,060m provides sufficient altitude for reliable natural snow preservation, whilst the resort's position beneath Colle di Tenda intercepts weather systems tracking from both Mediterranean and continental sources. The predominantly north-facing upper slopes maintain excellent snow quality throughout the season, particularly important during March and April when lower-elevation resorts struggle with rapidly deteriorating conditions.

Winter temperatures remain cold throughout the season due to the Maritime Alps' southern position creating distinctive microclimates compared to central Piedmont destinations. The comprehensive snowmaking system covering 13km of critical runs activates early season, typically enabling substantial terrain access by mid-December openings. Natural snowfall frequency creates regular powder opportunities, with the resort's reputation for reliable conditions attracting French and Italian national teams for training camps, testament to the consistent quality maintained across varied terrain types.

Spring skiing extends well into April with excellent corn snow developing on sun-exposed slopes during afternoon sessions, whilst shaded runs preserve winter-quality coverage on north-facing aspects. The resort benefits from its proximity to the Mediterranean just 80km south, occasionally receiving significant snowfall events from coastal weather systems tracking inland through the Maritime Alps. Weekend periods and Italian holiday weeks attract higher visitor numbers from Turin, Nice, and Genoa, though the extensive terrain network and efficient lift system prevent the overcrowding common at smaller Piedmont destinations during peak periods.
