    Positioned in Vermont's Green Mountains, Bolton Valley stands as one of New England's most distinctive ski areas with 5,000 acres of pristine alpine terrain. This independently-owned resort, founded in 1966, maintains its authentic Vermont character while evolving to meet modern expectations. With 71 trails spanning three peaks and a base elevation of 2,100 feet rising to a summit of 3,150 feet, Bolton Valley offers true ski-in, ski-out access to all amenities. The resort is renowned for its night skiing tradition, lighting up 12 trails across 80 acres, creating the region's largest night skiing venue. The base area acts as a complete mountain village, housing the main lodge, sports center, rental shops, dining venues, and slope-side accommodations all within walking distance.

    Bolton Valley Lift System

    Bolton Valley's thoughtfully designed network of 6 lifts ensures smooth mountain access across all ability levels. The Vista Quad, reaching the 3,150-foot summit, serves signature runs like Hard Luck and Sherman's Pass while offering spectacular views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. The Mid-Mountain chair provides direct access to learning terrain and progression zones. The Timberline Quad opens up access to some of Bolton's most cherished tree skiing areas. Together, these lifts can transport over 8,000 skiers per hour, maintaining steady flow even during peak weekends. Each lift has been positioned to maximise terrain variety while minimising traversing, allowing skiers and riders to make the most of their time on the mountain.

    Bolton Valley's location sets it apart in accessibility and natural beauty. Just 30 minutes from Burlington International Airport and under four hours from Boston, the resort balances convenience with an authentic mountain experience. Situated directly off Vermont Route 2, the access road winds through a mature forest before opening to the base area at 2,100 feet - one of the highest base elevations in New England. This elevation, combined with the resort's placement in a natural snow pocket of the Green Mountains, helps maintain consistent conditions throughout the season. The surrounding Bolton Valley Nordic & Backcountry network offers over 100km of trails, connecting to the Catamount Trail system and providing access to thousands of acres of pristine Vermont wilderness. The resort's proximity to Burlington means visitors can combine a mountain getaway with the cultural amenities of Vermont's largest city, while still enjoying the peaceful seclusion of a true mountain setting.

    Bolton Valley's distinct seasons each offer their own mountain experience. Winter brings an average of 312 inches of annual snowfall, enhanced by the resort's high elevation and protected location which helps preserve snow quality. The season typically runs from late November through mid-April, with night skiing available Wednesday through Saturday evenings. Spring ushers in classic corn snow conditions and warmer temperatures perfect for learning. Summer transforms Bolton into a mountain biking and hiking destination, with trails ranging from gentle paths to advanced single track. Fall showcases Vermont's legendary foliage, with the resort's location in the Green Mountains providing one of the region's most spectacular autumn displays. The Vista Quad operates for scenic rides, offering views stretching from Mount Mansfield to Camel's Hump.
