Mammoth Mountain Opening Day 2021

Michael Fulton (SnowStash)
Mammoth Mountain was one of the first ski resorts to swing into action across the United states thanks to some crazy October storms that blew in off the pacific ocean. Mammoth Mountain is home to the highest summit elevation of any ski resort in California at 11,053ft and this might be the secret as to why they could open up Halloween weekend with summit to base riding - or its the incredible mountain ops and mountain grooming team… We are going to say its both!If you wanted to check out what the conditions were like, check out this short video from Brandon Collins from @workingclassacitive who was able to get up onto the mountain and was very excited to be back on snow. The snow gods have been blessing Mammoth Mountain and the wider mountain of California this month and bringing back some much needed moisture to the region. Mammoth Mountain has already notched up 67” of snow (1.7m) and its only a few weeks after opening. Is this the sign that Mammoth could be in for a record breaking season?

Mammoth Mountain was able to open with a handful of lifts spinning out of the main lodge base area which included beginner intermediate and advanced terrain. We are sure expert terrain was open from the summit however its always a situation of go at your own risk, don’t enter closed runs and stay within your skill level.Mammoth Mountain is now opening daily with Broadway Express (1), Face Lift Express (3) and the Panorama Gondola to the summit will be spinning from 8:30AM–4PM with access to at least 34 trails and a small terrain park in lower Main Park containing 8 jibs.Sadly warmer weather has come through and now the above lifts are only serving intermediate and above terrain, but once the next storm rolls through not only will beginner terrain be back but we expect more lifts to be opening.
