Killington New K1 Lodge Upgrades Near Completion

Michael Fulton (SnowStash)
The main lodge is the berating heart of any great ski resort and over the summer months in Vermont Killington has completely upgraded their K1 base lodge. After the old lodge was first demolished in May 2022 crews have been hard at work getting the newly constructed lodge ready for the 2022 Audi FIS Ski World Cup over Thanksgiving weekend.Sadly the full lodge experience will not be ready for opening weekend however the majority of the work is complete which means during the start of the ski season the construction crews can keep going with the interior fit out and final updated. We might see the lodge operating at full capacity during peak season across the holidays.

The 58,000-square foot lodge features three floors, two elevators (one for guests and one service elevator) and an escalator. This new K1 Lodge has the first escalator to be installed in Rutland County! The sidewalks leading up the base lodge all contain snow-melt technology, eliminating ice on our walkways, sand and grit being tracked into the lodge and helping guests walk safely. The exterior of the building will be sided in a combination of wood, metal siding and glass, with a modern nod to the alpine architecture style skiers have come to expect. And its new location slightly lower on the mountain will also enable Killington to enhance the grading behind the lodge for easier flow between Superstar and the K-1 gondola. View fullsize
