Kitzbühel's Electronic Music Festival Revitalises Late-Season Tourism

Escape festival has proven successful in its second year, breathing new life into the traditionally quiet late March period. The event, which ran from March 27-29, 2025, combined electronic music with the alpine setting, attracting visitors and generating positive feedback from locals, guests, and businesses alike.

The festival featured a lineup of local DJs and international stars, including headliner Sven Väth, Kilimanjaro, Matthias Tanzmann, and Anna Tur. A main stage in the historic city centre served as the focal point, with additional venues on the mountain and throughout the valley. All performances were free to attend, making the event accessible to a wide audience.

Participating businesses reported increased bookings and occupancy rates, with many guests specifically visiting for the festival. The event attracted a younger demographic, including first-time visitors to Kitzbühel, helping to diversify the resort's appeal beyond its traditional ski offerings.

Local businesses and hotels expressed enthusiasm for the festival's impact. The HENRI Country House, which opened in December 2024, reported full bookings due to the event. Other establishments noted increased reservations and a positive atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Kitzbühel Tourism Managing Director Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser sees great potential in the concept, highlighting the increased visitor numbers and improved atmosphere. The success of Sound | Escape demonstrates Kitzbühel's ability to offer diverse experiences beyond skiing, appealing to a broader range of visitors and potentially extending the resort's peak season.

Following the positive reception, plans are already underway for the next edition of Sound | Escape, scheduled for March 27-29, 2026. The festival's continued success could establish Kitzbühel as a destination for both winter sports and cultural events, further strengthening its position in the competitive ski resort market.
