Chilean Ski Resorts Dominate 10-Day South American Snow Forecast

South American ski resorts are preparing for a significant snowfall event over the next 10 days, with Chilean slopes set to receive the lion's share of fresh powder. The latest weather forecasts show impressive accumulation totals across the Andes, promising excellent conditions for skiers and riders throughout the region.

Chilean resorts are completely dominating the forecast, claiming nine of the top 10 positions for expected snowfall. The predictions range from nearly 3 metres at the top end down to over 1.5 metres for the lowest-ranked resort, representing substantial base building across the entire mountain range.

This widespread snow event is being driven by strong storm systems moving through the Andes, with the Chilean side of the mountains positioned to capture the majority of moisture. The forecast represents some of the most significant accumulation totals seen in recent seasons across multiple regions of Chile.

    10-Day Snow Forecast by Resort:

    • Nevados de Chillan (Ñuble, Chile) - 292cm (115 inches)
    • Antuco (Bio-Bio, Chile) - 203cm (80 inches)
    • Valle Nevado (Santiago Region, Chile) - 183cm (72 inches)
    • Corralco Mountain (Araucanía, Chile) - 178cm (70 inches)
    • La Parva (Santiago Region, Chile) - 173cm (68 inches)
    • El Colorado (Santiago Region, Chile) - 168cm (66 inches)
    • Pucon (Araucanía, Chile) - 165cm (65 inches)
    • Las Araucarias (Araucanía, Chile) - 163cm (64 inches)
    • Ski Portillo (Valparaiso, Chile) - 160cm (63 inches)
    • Las Leñas (Mendoza, Argentina) - 152cm (60 inches)

These substantial snowfall totals will provide excellent base building for resorts currently in their winter season, with conditions expected to improve dramatically across the region. The concentration of heavy snow predictions in Chilean resorts reinforces the country's position as South America's premier skiing destination, offering diverse terrain and reliable snowfall that attracts international visitors seeking Southern Hemisphere winter sports.

Skiers and riders planning trips to South America should monitor these developing conditions closely, as the substantial snowfall could create powder skiing opportunities rarely seen in the region. With nearly every major Chilean resort expecting over 160cm of fresh snow, this weather system represents a game-changing event for the 2025 ski season.
