Valle Nevado Leads Chilean Ski Season with Early Start

Valle Nevado ski resort in Chile has announced it will open on June 13th, 2025, a week earlier than initially planned. This decision comes after the resort received over 30 centimetres of snow, with forecasts predicting up to 1.5 metres more in the coming week. The early opening makes Valle Nevado the first ski resort to begin operations in Chile for the 2025 winter season.

The resort's ability to open ahead of schedule is attributed to several factors, including its high-altitude location, recent snowfall, and optimal conditions for snowmaking. Valle Nevado's mountain operations team has been working diligently to prepare the slopes for skiers and riders.

In preparation for the 2025 season, Valle Nevado has invested over $3.4 million USD in various improvements. These upgrades include modernising lifts, renovating hotels, expanding skiable terrain, and adding new on-mountain facilities. These enhancements aim to improve the overall experience for visitors to the Chilean Andes.

Valle Nevado offers a range of ticket options for the upcoming season. FIX tickets, which are date-specific, start at 15,000 CLP (approximately $16 USD). The resort has also expanded its interconnected ski area with neighbouring La Parva, creating the largest skiable domain in the Southern Hemisphere, spanning 2,800 hectares with 30 lifts and 80 trails.

The resort's hotels are set to open in stages, with Hotels Puerta del Sol and Tres Puntas opening on June 20th, followed by Hotel Valle Nevado on June 27th. Valle Nevado plans to operate daily from June 13th until early October, with lifts running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This early start and extended season offer skiers and riders ample opportunity to enjoy the slopes of the Chilean Andes in 2025.
