TL;DR
We all knew it was imminent but now its confirmed, Arapahoe Basin will be the first major ski resort to open in the country. A trend they continue to set year after year as one of the first major resorts to get the lifts turning.
Arapahoe Basin has just confirmed across all of their social media platforms that they will start turning lifts this Sunday the 23rd of October. This puts them as not only the first major ski resort in the country to start operating but the first mountain resort in Colorado and the western United States. We have seen them quietly pumping out snow since the 9th of October and thanks to the first major storm which will roll this through weekend the riders at Arapahoe Basin might even be in for a mini powder dat. The resort will open with the Black Mountain Express lift serving the High Noon trail and they will open for riders from 8:30am with a full day of operations all the way through to 4pm. They have advised that this will not be a beginner experience as everyone will be stuck in the same part of the resort and early season conditions exist. There will also be no tickets sold on the day, all lift passes must be purchased in advance. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (@arapahoe_basin)
