It was a sad sight to see Kimberley Alpine Resort suffer through the 2021 season after a fire ripped through the top shack of the North Star Quad at the very start of their season, it was made even worse when the fire was categorised as an arson attack. During the 2021 season the ski resort had to get creative as the North Star Quad is the main lift which takes riders up from the base to the majority of backside terrain. In response, Kimberley had created a unique cat-skiing operation that helps guests access the upper mountain. The resort got three-cabin cats from Revelstoke, Kicking Horse, and a local logging contractor. Guests who want to used the cat had reserve a ride the night before. Alternatively, guests can hike up to the Tamarack Double Chairlift, which takes twenty to forty minutes.

During the summer months the much needed parts arrived at the resort after some extensive delays thanks to the ongoing supply chain issues and now based on the latest stories we are seeing from Kimberley Alpine Resort it would appear the re opening is imminent.
