Valle Nevado Extends Ski Season, Breaking Records in Chile Valle Nevado, a premier ski resort in Chile, has announced an exciting extension to its 2024 season. Skiers and riders can now hit the slopes until October 20, making it potentially the last resort in the southern hemisphere to close for the year. This two-week extension caps off what has already been an extraordinary season for Valle Nevado. The resort opened its doors early on May 31, following record-breaking snowfall in the early season. Daily operations began on June 7, a full two weeks ahead of the originally scheduled June 21 start date. This early opening, combined with the late closure, has resulted in one of the longest and most successful seasons in Valle Nevado's history. “With its higher elevation and favorable orientation, Valle Nevado is known for having the deepest and most reliable snowpack in the Southern Hemisphere. This season’s snowfall has been exceptional, with nearly 22 feet of snow received since May. We are thrilled to extend our season by two weeks, allowing our guests more time to enjoy the incredible snow we’ve had this year.” — Ricardo Margulis, Valle Nevado General Manager View this post on Instagram A post shared by Valle Nevado Ski Resort (@valle_nevado) In 2024, Valle Nevado welcomed an impressive 300,000+ visitors, accounting for about one-third of all snow sports enthusiasts in Chile. The resort has maintained hotel occupancy rates above 90 percent throughout the season, with international guests making up over 80 percent of total visitors. Strong partnerships with Ikon Pass, Power Pass, and Mountain Collective have played a crucial role in boosting international visitor numbers, particularly from North America. While Hotel Valle Nevado and Tres Puntas Hotel will close on September 22, Puerta del Sol will remain open until October 13 to accommodate late-season visitors. For those looking to take advantage of the extended season, Valle Nevado will continue daily operations from 9 am to 5 pm until October 20. Skiers and riders will have access to the slopes, rental shop, ski school, Valle Lounge restaurant, and Valle Nevado Store throughout this period. “Although some of our hotel services will be winding down, the slopes will remain open for skiing until October 20, providing an extended opportunity for locals and day visitors to enjoy the mountain” — Ricardo Margulis, Valle Nevado General Manager
