Falls Creek's Cloud 9 Restaurant Unveils Major Upgrades

Falls Creek, a popular ski resort in Australia, has completed a significant redevelopment of its Cloud 9 Restaurant. The venue, situated at the top of the mountain and in the centre of the ski field, has undergone extensive renovations over the past three summers. These upgrades aim to enhance the dining experience for skiers and riders visiting the resort.

Falls Creek is known for its diverse food and drink options, with over 28 different venues available during the winter season. The Cloud 9 Restaurant renovation is part of an ongoing effort by venue owners and operators to improve guest experiences at the resort.

The redevelopment of Cloud 9 Restaurant has been a collaborative effort between Falls Creek Ski Lifts and Traverse Alpine Group (TAG). The project, spread across three summers, has resulted in significant structural changes and improvements to the iconic building located at the top of Halley's Comet chairlift.

Key upgrades include a partially covered and extended terrace, offering more space for guests to enjoy mountain views. Accessibility has been greatly improved with the addition of an entrance ramp and an internal elevator. A new retail space for Falls Creek Sports has been incorporated, providing easy access to winter essentials.

The kitchen has been completely renovated and now features state-of-the-art equipment, including a new pizza oven. These improvements have enhanced the restaurant's ability to serve breakfast and lunch, as well as cater to the resort's Snowsports School programs.

As the final stage of redevelopment nears completion, Cloud 9 Restaurant is preparing for its reopening on June 7. The renovated space boasts high ceilings, expansive north-facing windows, and a new semi-enclosed area that offers protection from the elements while allowing guests to enjoy the sunshine.

The project has involved several local firms, including Duggan & Hanlon Constructions, Sendit Architecture, and Kusch Consulting Engineers. These companies have brought valuable expertise in managing the challenges of construction in an alpine environment.

Falls Creek Ski Resort, with its newly upgraded Cloud 9 Restaurant, continues to enhance its offerings for skiers and riders. The improvements to this central venue are expected to significantly boost the overall guest experience at the resort, providing increased seating capacity, better accessibility, and a comfortable environment for enjoying meals and breaks between runs.
