Hintertux Park Opening: Annual Freestyle Event Returns
The Hintertux Park Opening, a key event in the freestyle skiing and snowboarding calendar, is set to return from October 3-5, 2025. This marks the 21st consecutive year of the event, which has become the unofficial start of the winter season for many in the snow sports community. The gathering brings together professional athletes, amateur riders, and industry professionals at the Betterpark Hintertux in Austria's Tux Valley.

For 2025, the event organisers are expanding the competition lineup. In addition to the established snowboarding contests, a new freeski competition will be introduced, broadening the appeal of the event. The Betterpark Hintertux, central to the event's success, will be expertly prepared by Wille Kaufmann and his team. They aim to create a park layout that caters to both professional riders and beginners, featuring a range of jumps, rails, and lines suitable for various skill levels.
The Betterpark Hintertux operates on a unique schedule compared to most ski resort terrain parks. It opens in early autumn, closes for the peak winter season at the end of November, and then reopens in April. This schedule allows for an extended freestyle season, with the park typically remaining open until early June.

The Hintertux Glacier ski area, home to the Betterpark, is known for its year-round skiing opportunities. The glacier's high altitude allows for reliable snow conditions, making it a popular destination for both recreational skiers and professional athletes training in the off-season.
For the 2025 season, the Betterpark Hintertux is scheduled to remain open until June 1. This gives skiers and snowboarders ample opportunity to enjoy spring riding conditions and practice their freestyle skills before the summer break. The park's unique operating schedule and the annual Park Opening event have helped establish Hintertux as a key location in the European freestyle scene, attracting riders from across the continent and beyond.
