Möserbahn Cable Car Set for Major Renovation

The Möserbahn cable car, a key component of the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal ski area, is scheduled for a significant upgrade. Operating since the 1999/2000 winter season, this detachable six-seater chairlift will undergo extensive technical renovations during the summer of 2025. The project aims to enhance both the technical capabilities and visual appeal of the lift, ensuring its continued efficiency and safety for skiers and riders.

The renovation project comes with a substantial investment of approximately €2.5 million. This comprehensive overhaul will cover various aspects of the lift system. One of the most notable additions is the implementation of a camera-based monitoring system for the locking bar position, a first in Germany. This advanced safety feature goes beyond standard requirements, designed to improve guest safety and assist lift operators in their duties. If a safety bar is not properly closed, the system will automatically reduce the lift's speed and display a warning message at the next support tower.

The Möserbahn plays a crucial role in the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal ski area, providing access to the slopes of the Fellhorn. The renovation work is scheduled for completion in autumn 2025, allowing time for necessary inspections and approvals. This timing ensures the lift will be fully operational for the 2025/26 winter season, ready to transport guests safely and efficiently. The upgrade of the Möserbahn reflects the ski resort's commitment to maintaining modern infrastructure and enhancing the overall experience for visitors to the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal area.

Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal is known for its diverse terrain and excellent snow conditions. The ski resort spans across the border of Germany and Austria, offering a unique cross-border skiing experience. With the upgraded Möserbahn, skiers and riders can look forward to improved access to the area's renowned slopes, further solidifying Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal's position as a top ski destination in the region.
