TL;DR
Hintertux became Austria's second glacier to open for 2026-27 on Friday 2 October, after the Pitztal Glacier. Twelve kilometres of piste are running around the Olperer and Gefrorene Wand, served by one gondola and two drag lifts, with the Betterpark also open. Lifts officially run 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, but skiing stops at 2 pm for now.
Austria's second glacier of the season is now turning its lifts.
Hintertux Glacier opened for the 2026-27 season on Friday 2 October, following the Pitztal Glacier. Twelve kilometres of piste are available at the top of the glacier, in the highest part of the ski area.
What Is Open
The first runs sit around the Olperer and the Gefrorene Wand. The Gefrorene Wand 10-person gondola and the Olperer 1 and Olperer 2 drag lifts are running, and the Betterpark Hintertux is open daily. Glacier buses carry visitors from the valley up to the ski area.
It is a limited menu, as early-season glacier skiing tends to be: one gondola, two drags and a park. For October, that is a fair offer.
