Banff Sunshine Village

The only ski resort in Canada which spans over two provinces, Sunshine Village Banff is mostly an Alberta ski resort however from a few runs you might slide on over to British Columbia.

Only 20 minutes from the picturesque mountain township of Banff is the main Gondola station, which is the access point to the mountain resort. Everyone needs to load up here and take the incredible 4.5km gondola right up to the resort base. From the resort base you have access to 3,360 acres of terrain and the longest vertical drop in Alberta at 1070m.

One major draw card and a unique selling point is that Sunshine Village in Banff has mountain accommodation located at the central part of the ski resort. They have a number of lodges with incredible room and suite options plus they are also the only resort in Alberta with accommodation this high up in the ski resort. Because everyone takes the gondola to get to the resort once the lifts stop spinning you are up in the mountains with a limited number of people, this is an incredible experience and also means you have first dibs on fresh tracks in the morning.

Sunshine Village in Banff Snow

Sunshine Village in Banff gets the highest amount of natural snow for all the Alberta resorts but it’s not comparable to some of its competition like Revelstoke who get well over 10m a season. With a decent 6-7m which is normally delivered with consistent storm fronts rather than huge 1m plus dumps.

Situated high in the Banff National Park its assured that each year the riding at Sunshine Village in Banff will be all time with excellent fast groomers on the Lookout and Standish mountain, plus for the more advanced rider it will be steep and deep on Goats Eye Mountain and the runs under Tee Pee Town LX. With a long season that normally goes from early November through to mid-May.
