    The Overview
    MF
    Michael Fulton
Melbourne-based skier and snowboarder with 50+ resorts across 5 continents. Specialises in Australian resorts and international resort comparisons.

Sasquatch Mountain's summit reaches 1,317 metres, dropping 337 vertical metres to a base at 980 metres across 34 runs spread over roughly 121 hectares in the Hemlock Valley, British Columbia. Terrain splits 46 per cent advanced, 34 per cent intermediate, 20 per cent beginner and no dedicated expert terrain, with average annual snowfall of roughly 13.0 metres, among the highest totals of any resort in British Columbia. The resort carries Indy Pass affiliation. Four lifts, including one double chair, one quad chair and one triple chair, serve the mountain alongside one surface lift.

Sasquatch Mountain holds a genuinely distinctive place among Fraser Valley resorts for its considerable, reliable snowfall and its 2017 rebranding, which recognised the cultural significance of Sasquatch, an anglicised pronunciation of 'sasq'ets', a Sts'ailes word describing a primary caretaker of the land. Its comparatively advanced-weighted terrain has built the resort's reputation as a genuine, if modestly scaled, powder destination.

Hemlock Valley opened for skiing on 21 December 1969 under Hemlock Valley Recreation, with facilities limited to a single rope-tow lift and an old school bus fitted with a wood-burning stove serving as the lodge. Around 30 to 40 families visited that first season, and a proper lodge followed through the 1970s alongside three chairlifts, the third completed in 1978.

The resort closed into bankruptcy receivership in 2005 before Berezan Hospitality Group purchased and reopened it in December 2006. The rebrand to Sasquatch Mountain Resort followed in March 2017, and the province and Sts'ailes First Nation signed an agreement in 2019 to share the benefits of the resort. Adult daily tickets run from 75 to 89 Canadian dollars.

    When to visit Sasquatch Mountain

The 2025-26 season at Sasquatch Mountain ran from 13 December 2025 to 5 April 2026, a roughly sixteen-week season supported by average annual snowfall of around 13.0 metres, among the highest totals of any resort in British Columbia. Season dates can shift depending on early and late-season weather in the Hemlock Valley.

Midwinter, from December through February, typically brings the most consistent, substantial snowfall to Sasquatch's advanced-weighted terrain. As an Indy Pass resort, Sasquatch draws value-focused skiers and pass holders alongside Fraser Valley locals seeking the area's considerable, reliable powder.

Sasquatch's proximity to the Fraser Valley continues to draw regional visitation throughout the season, particularly given the resort's comparatively affordable pricing relative to the larger BC destinations. School holiday periods bring family visitation to the resort's more moderate terrain sections.

Specific event programming beyond standard operations is not confirmed in available resort information. Since Berezan Hospitality Group's 2006 purchase and the resort's 2017 rebrand, Sasquatch has continued building on more than five decades of history since Hemlock Valley's 1969 founding. The resort's considerable snowfall and cultural rebrand remain central to its identity each season.

    Getting there

Getting to Sasquatch Mountain, and where to stay

Sasquatch Mountain sits in the Hemlock Valley, British Columbia, with a base elevation of 980 metres and a summit at 1,317 metres across a 337-metre vertical drop over roughly 121 hectares. This setting places the resort in the Fraser Valley region, within a comparatively short drive of Metro Vancouver.

The resort's own base facilities provide lodging and dining directly on-site, with the nearby community of Harrison Hot Springs offering additional accommodation within a manageable drive.

Morris Valley Road and local forestry roads provide access to the resort. Winter driving conditions on these routes can include snow and ice, and travellers should carry appropriate equipment given the area's considerable, reliable snowfall.

Vancouver International Airport, roughly a two-hour drive away, is the primary gateway for visitors flying into the region, with Sasquatch's roughly 90-minute drive from Metro Vancouver supporting genuine day-trip and weekend visitation from the Fraser Valley and beyond.

Sundance Mountain Resort Is Getting a New High-Speed Quad and More Back Mountain Terrain This Winter

Sundance Mountain Resort's back mountain is finally getting a proper lift. The Electric Horseman Express opens for 2026-27, unlocking a new bowl next to Bishop's Bowl and three expert gladed chutes across roughly 105 fresh acres - on top of the Storyteller ridge run that debuted in preview form last season. It's Sundance's biggest expansion since 1985, and it turns a three-lift slog into a single six-minute ride to Bearclaw Summit.

Nassfeld Invests €13 Million in New 6-Seater Chairlift for 2026/27 Season

Nassfeld is putting €13 million into a new 6-seater chairlift, the Tressdorfer Almbahn, connecting Sonnleitn with the Tressdorfer Alm from December 2026. It replaces three ageing drag lifts and will run through summer too, from June 2027, moving up to 2,500 people an hour on the roughly three-minute ride. It's the latest step in Carinthia's largest ski resort building out a genuine year-round offering, following last year's Gartnerkofelbahn gondola.

Stelvio Glacier Suspends Summer Skiing, Leaving Continental Europe Without a Lift-Served Slope

Stelvio Glacier Suspends Summer Skiing, Leaving Continental Europe Without a Lift-Served Slope

Italy's Stelvio Glacier has pulled the plug on summer skiing from August 15. It was the last lift-served ski option left standing in continental Europe, and now there's none. Operator SIFAS pointed to persistent heat, storms, and a snowpack that simply wasn't refreezing overnight anymore. The cable car keeps running. Whether skiing comes back later this summer depends on the weather turning - and right now, nobody's promising anything.

Maverick Mountain's Only Chairlift Destroyed as Sand Creek Fire Tears Through Montana Ski Area

Maverick Mountain's Only Chairlift Destroyed as Sand Creek Fire Tears Through Montana Ski Area

Firefighters saved every base building at Maverick Mountain, Montana, but the resort's sole chairlift didn't survive the Sand Creek Fire. Owners Erik and Kristi Borge say the lift is "most likely" out for the 2026/27 season after flames tore through the mountain on August 8. The wildfire has since grown past 27,700 acres with zero percent containment. It's a gutting result for the tiny, one-lift operation near Dillon - though the lodge, groomers and equipment all made it through untouched.

Fairmont Niseko: New Luxury Resort Revives Stalled La Plume Site for Early 2028 Opening

Fairmont is bringing its second Japanese property to Niseko, and this one's got history. The 165-room resort will rise on the site of the stalled La Plume project, which collapsed into bankruptcy in 2025 before J-Will Partners bought the site for redevelopment. Set between Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri, it's slated for an early 2028 opening - putting it in play for the 2027/28 season. Expect two restaurants, a spa, onsen bathing, and a kids' club, a short drive from Niseko Village and Hirafu.

Saas-Fee Closes Its Glacier to Summer Skiing as Heat Wave Drags On

Saas-Fee is closing its glacier to summer skiing from Monday, August 10 - the second major Swiss resort to shut in under two weeks after Zermatt suspended operations on August 1. Persistent heat and warm nights that won't let the glacier refreeze are behind the call, per Saastal Bergbahnen. That leaves Italy's Stelvio as the only glacier ski area open in the Alps. Reopening could come as early as August 17, though nothing's confirmed - and racing teams are already looking south instead.

Silvretta Montafon Plans New 10-Person Gondola to Replace Ageing Hochjoch Lift

Silvretta Montafon Plans New 10-Person Gondola to Replace Ageing Hochjoch Lift

Silvretta Montafon wants to retire one of its most distinctive lifts. The plan: a single 10-person gondola running direct from Schruns to 1,870 metres, replacing both the two-stage Hochjoch cable car and the 1985 Kropfen chairlift in one move. Capacity jumps from 620 to 3,000 people an hour, and the mid-station transfer disappears entirely. The public hearing lands August 27, 2026 - construction hasn't been confirmed yet, though lift databases are pointing to 2027.

Ski Pass on Your Smartphone: Dolomiti Superski's Plans for the Next Three Years

Dolomiti Superski's general assembly has unanimously re-elected Andy Varallo for a third consecutive term, running through 2029. Alongside the leadership renewal comes a bigger shift: a Smartpass that puts your ski pass on your smartphone, more AI in guest services, and an expanded Dolomiti Supersummer program. The 46-year-old Alta Badia cable car entrepreneur says the region's marketing is moving beyond skiing alone, toward positioning the Dolomites as a year-round destination.

Understanding the Sasquatch Mountain snow report

Track current conditions at Sasquatch Mountain in British Columbia. This report covers snowfall totals, base and summit depth, and the forecast across 34 runs.

    Snow measurements

Base depth, summit depth, and recent snowfall are the core numbers to watch. At Sasquatch Mountain, summit conditions (1317m) can differ noticeably from the base, so we break both out separately rather than showing a single average.

    Weather conditions

Current weather conditions affect snow quality. Cold temperatures with low wind typically preserve snow quality, while warm temperatures or rain can impact conditions negatively — something worth watching closely at Sasquatch Mountain's 980m base elevation, where temperatures run milder than the summit.

    Data sources

Sasquatch Mountain snow data is collected through a combination of on-mountain reports and weather forecasting services, giving you both official resort updates and independent forecast data in one place. The mountain is served by 4 lifts, including a quad chairlift.

    When to check

The biggest swings usually happen right after a storm. Check Sasquatch Mountain's report in the morning for the freshest numbers, and again in the afternoon as conditions evolve.
