    Resort Overview

Ponte di Legno-Tonale delivers 110 kilometres of varied skiing across a high-alpine pass connecting Lombardy and Trentino, with elevations from 1,120 to 3,000 metres. The resort combines two distinct sectors: Tonale's wide-open, high-altitude bowls above the tree line and Ponte di Legno's more sheltered, forested slopes. Modern snowmaking systems cover 80% of all marked runs, complementing natural snowfall that averages 5 metres annually at higher elevations. The Presena Glacier extends the season significantly, typically operating from October through June, providing reliable snow conditions throughout winter. The area balances extensive intermediate terrain with exceptional learning facilities and challenging expert runs, including the famous Paradiso black piste.

    Ponte Dilegno Tonale Lift System

The Ponte di Legno-Tonale lift system comprises 28 modern installations strategically positioned across interconnected mountains. The network features the spectacular Paradiso gondola that climbs to the Presena Glacier at 3,000 metres, complemented by high-speed detachable chairlifts with weather protection bubbles on primary routes. Recent infrastructure investments have introduced RFID ticketing technology, heated seats on newer lifts, and expanded uphill capacity by 35%, effectively reducing wait times even during peak periods. The system's dual-sector design provides excellent options regardless of weather conditions, with Tonale excelling during clear days and Ponte di Legno offering protected skiing during storms.

    Location & Getting There

Situated at the boundary between Lombardy and Trentino at Passo del Tonale (1,883 metres), the resort encompasses both the high-alpine pass area and the traditional valley town of Ponte di Legno. These distinct centres offer complementary experiences: Tonale provides convenient slope-side accommodation with modern facilities, while Ponte di Legno preserves authentic Alpine village character with its historic centre dating to medieval times. The surrounding region features remarkable biodiversity within the Stelvio National Park and Adamello Regional Park, with exceptional views of the Adamello-Presanella mountain group. The resort's strategic position places it within the Adamello Ski area, with connections to Temù creating an extensive interconnected domain.

    Season Info

The Ponte di Legno-Tonale winter season typically runs from late October through early May, with glacier skiing often available into June. This exceptional season length results from the area's high elevation and the Presena Glacier's reliable snowpack. Early operations concentrate around the glacier before expanding across Tonale by November and connecting to Ponte di Legno as conditions permit. January and February deliver peak snow conditions across all sectors, with consistent cold temperatures preserving snow quality particularly well on north-facing slopes. Spring brings increasingly stable weather while maintaining excellent skiing conditions, especially during morning hours after overnight freezes.
