A strong cold front coming straight up from Antartica hit the Australian alps over the weekend turning Falls Creek and Hotham villages white for a short period of time. The temp dropped down to -2.6° celsius (27°F) which means the “feels like” temp would have been between -7 to -12 with the winds.Australians and Victorian’s alike will be hoping this is a sign of a great winter season as many of the locals missed out completely on the 2020 season when Falls Creek and Hotham were forced to shut down completely due to the risk associated with COVID-19 and the ongoing pandemic.Hotham and Falls Creek were open for a total of 4 days in 2020 and also suffered a hit to their annual tourism income due to raging bush fires in the region in the 2019/20 summer season. We are looking forward to the resorts swinging their doors open in 2021 and praying to the snow gods that they deliver more of these antarctic blast.Check out some of the video’s and pictures from their social media pages.
