We normally see the resorts in both Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon claim opening rights when it comes to the start of the Utah ski season however Brain Head is taking first place this season thanks to some early season snowfall and consistently lower temps which has allowed the snow making team to have those guns pumping non stop. The resort will open this coming Friday the 4th of November and have a single chairlift in operation + some trails. We also think that the higher elevation of the resort where the base is located at 9,600ft plays into the ability to get the snow flowing earlier in the season. Majority of this part of the resort is beginner terrain with two intermediate trails near the top of the lift. This could change slightly and we might see another part of the resort open on Friday or even the weekend once the resort is able to see how much snow has settled after this storm.
