    Location & Getting There

    Situated where Montana meets Idaho, Lost Trail offers a genuine mountain experience just 90 minutes south of Missoula. The resort's position at 7,000 feet elevation, with a summit reaching 8,200 feet, creates ideal conditions for reliable snow coverage. The surrounding Bitterroot National Forest provides a spectacular backdrop and opportunities for additional winter recreation, making Lost Trail a complete mountain destination.

    Lost Trail's location along the Montana-Idaho border captures consistent snowfall, with an average of 300 inches blanketing the mountains annually. The winter season typically runs from early December through early April, with peak conditions from January through March. The resort's north-facing slopes help preserve excellent snow quality throughout the season, especially in the gladed areas and upper bowls.
