Polar vortex whips Canadian ski resorts with wicked chills
Michael Fulton

Credit: THE CANADIAN PRESS/Kayle Neis An arctic polar vortex (kinda common now a days in North America) is currently barrelling down on most of Canada and plunging the mercury into some of the lowest temps in the last few years. Wednesday and Thursday this week are going to be the coldest with chill factor temps dropping as low as -39°C / -38°F. Yes that is where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet. With Alberta and British Columbia being on the far western edge of the country the tail of the polar vortex is whipping its way over the mountains and many ski resorts. No new snow will be recorded however the temps will be dropping far below zero on every aspect (°F/°C). It will however keep the most recent snowfalls super crisp and once the vortex passes the powder will continue to be found under windlips and in the tree stashes. For those over in the canadian mountains we recommended double layer the Gore-Tex if you are going to be heading out for some runs, and don’t stop otherwise the chill factor will get you good.Check out some of the forecast for the week ahead across a number of resorts! We are shivering as we type this. All snapshots have been taken from Snow-Forecast Lake Louise - Alberta
