PATS PEAK continues to be a local family-owned mountain, with the same family ownership, for 60 years. Every year PATS PEAK continues to enhance their guest experience with capital improvements. “We are excited to celebrate 60 years in the business of having fun! We are constantly reinvesting in areas to make our guests feel even more welcome at PATS PEAK. We are more than a ski area and banquet center, we are a family that invites other families to come enjoy the fresh mountain air, create social connections and enjoy the thrill of cascading down the mountain on our exceptional snow product,” commented General Manager, Kris Blomback. Capital improvements for the 2022-2023 season include:A New Large Outdoor Seating Area, Complete with Igloos and Heated PaversThis new large patio area will make a statement in the winter and in the summer. During the winter, skiers and snowboarders be able to take a break in the expansive outdoor seating area under igloos with heaters to keep them warm. The heated pavers will keep the snow clear in that area. In the summer months, this will be a beautiful new outdoor wedding ceremony location with gorgeous views of the mountain in the background.Additional Energy-Efficient Snowmaking Fan GunsPATS PEAK continues to increase their snowmaking capabilities by adding to an arsenal that already gives the mountain 100% snow coverage. PATS Peak was one of the first ski areas in New Hampshire to offer snowmaking and continues to be a ski industry leader. The ability to open terrain quickly remains a top priority. The annual upgrade to snowmaking provides a boost of higher efficiency snow guns on the Puff trail to make the snowmaking system even more robust and resilient. Major Upgrades in the Rental ShopThe 9,600-square-foot Rental Shop, the largest rental shop in Northern New England, has undergone a transformation that will make renting equipment even faster. Walls were knocked down, additional seating and sizing was added in the boot area. This will make renting an even more “user-friendly” experience.Beautiful Stone Fireplace in the Valley LodgeIn the Valley Lodge, a beautiful stone fireplace was added that will be sure to warm up cold fingers and toes in the winter. During “The Other Season of Pats Peak” with many weddings and other events during the months of April through December, the new fireplace will provide ambiance for these special events.New 12,000 square foot Mountain Operations FacilityConstruction has begun on a new 12,000 square foot Mountain Operations facility. This new building is a multi-year project to replace a 60 year old outdated wooden structure. The new facility will be an energy efficient, modern, and beautiful new building for the operations crew. Pats Peak Season Passes provide outstanding value for guests who ski or ride frequently. PATS Peak offers 100% snowmaking, one of the earliest to open ski area in southern NH, night skiing featuring NH’s only beginner run off the summit-open both day and night, 11 lifts with tremendous uphill lift capacity and base lodges designed with skiers and riders in mind. PATS Peak Season Pass Holders receive additional benefits including up to 50% off lift tickets at other mountains and a “Bring-A-Friend” benefit for discounted PATS Peak lift tickets. More information on season passes and how to order can be found online at www.patspeak.com.PATS Peak Season Pass rates remain affordable in order to allow individuals and families to spend more time on the slopes without financial burdens. The average adult who purchases a weekend lift ticket six times, would be paying about the same as the price of an Unlimited Season Pass.

Sundance Mountain Resort Is Getting a New High-Speed Quad and More Back Mountain Terrain This Winter

Sundance Mountain Resort's back mountain is finally getting a proper lift. The Electric Horseman Express opens for 2026-27, unlocking a new bowl next to Bishop's Bowl and three expert gladed chutes across roughly 105 fresh acres - on top of the Storyteller ridge run that debuted in preview form last season. It's Sundance's biggest expansion since 1985, and it turns a three-lift slog into a single six-minute ride to Bearclaw Summit.

Stelvio Glacier Suspends Summer Skiing, Leaving Continental Europe Without a Lift-Served Slope

Stelvio Glacier Suspends Summer Skiing, Leaving Continental Europe Without a Lift-Served Slope

Italy's Stelvio Glacier has pulled the plug on summer skiing from August 15. It was the last lift-served ski option left standing in continental Europe, and now there's none. Operator SIFAS pointed to persistent heat, storms, and a snowpack that simply wasn't refreezing overnight anymore. The cable car keeps running. Whether skiing comes back later this summer depends on the weather turning - and right now, nobody's promising anything.

Maverick Mountain's Only Chairlift Destroyed as Sand Creek Fire Tears Through Montana Ski Area

Maverick Mountain's Only Chairlift Destroyed as Sand Creek Fire Tears Through Montana Ski Area

Firefighters saved every base building at Maverick Mountain, Montana, but the resort's sole chairlift didn't survive the Sand Creek Fire. Owners Erik and Kristi Borge say the lift is "most likely" out for the 2026/27 season after flames tore through the mountain on August 8. The wildfire has since grown past 27,700 acres with zero percent containment. It's a gutting result for the tiny, one-lift operation near Dillon - though the lodge, groomers and equipment all made it through untouched.

Set between Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri, it's slated for an early 2028 opening - putting it in play for the 2027/28 season. Expect two restaurants, a spa, onsen bathing, and a kids' club, a short drive from Niseko Village and Hirafu.

The 46-year-old Alta Badia cable car entrepreneur says the region's marketing is moving beyond skiing alone, toward positioning the Dolomites as a year-round destination.

Spain Moves to Ban Smoking at Ski Resorts Under New Tobacco Law

Spain's government has approved a draft tobacco law that would ban smoking across a wide range of outdoor spaces, including sports venues - a category Spanish winter sports media expect to cover ski resorts, potentially extending to slopes and lifts themselves. The rules would also apply to e-cigarettes and vaping devices, even nicotine-free ones. The bill still has to clear the Spanish parliament before any ban, signage, or fines can take effect.

South Tyrol Approves New 16-Person Ciampinoi Gondola in Val Gardena

South Tyrol has approved a full rebuild of the Ciampinoi cable car in Selva di Val Gardena, replacing the current 12-person gondola with a 16-person cabin and a new mountain-station restaurant. Capacity is capped at 3,200 people an hour rather than the 3,600 the operator wanted, and 250,000 euros must go toward compensatory measures. No construction or opening date has been set, though the upgrade is partly aimed at clearing bottlenecks before the 2031 Alpine Ski World Championships.
