Not only is a brand new Gondola and six seater opening this winter season at Palisades Tahoe but a new trail rating system is being applied across the resort for their hardest trails. The extreme rating of double black diamond will make its appearance for the first time ever at Palisades Tahoe and make its return to Palisades Alpine. Previously Palisades Tahoe only used single black diamond rating across all of their advanced and expert trails which could lead to some confusion as there is some clear differences between some of the advanced trails and the clear expert chutes, cliffs and faces. Palisades Tahoe has always been home to some of the most challenging advanced and expert terrain in North America and the single black diamond runs have been the equivalent to double black diamonds at many other ski resorts. Credit: Palisades Tahoe Mobile App In previous years the most advanced trails were often differentiated from the rest by Expert Only sings that would be hung at the gates to the trails however there was no way to know in advance and you would only see this once you physically arrived at the trail, with this new trail map riders can more easily plan out their day and understand what trails meet their skill levels. Looking at the updated trail map we can see that majority of the most extreme terrain at Palisades Tahoe Olympic Valley have been upgraded to double black diamond and the trails at Alpine Meadows have bee returned to their former glory as per their rating in 2012.With this change Palisades Tahoe will align with the rating seen across all other Lake Tahoe resorts with the exception of Northstar California.
