This season has been characterized by excessive snowfall and extended operating seasons, and now with a surprise bonus of skiing for southern Utah. Brian Head Resort, situated in southern Utah near national parks like Zion and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, has announced that it will remain open for an extra weekend on May 6th and 7th, providing an opportunity for skiing enthusiasts to enjoy the slopes for a little longer.Brian Head Resort is a lesser-known ski area in a state renowned for its world-class terrain offerings. It boasts the highest base elevation in Utah at an impressive 9,600 feet. With a total of 419 inches of snowfall this year, it was the first ski resort in Utah to officially open and is now outlasting competitors like Alta with a May closing date.The resort's Instagram post indicates that coverage is still excellent, with the Blackfoot Express and Giant Steps Express lifts operating for spring skiing, providing access to a mix of intermediate and expert terrain.
