Solitude Announces Capital Resort Improvements Worth Over $16 Million
Michael Fulton
Solitude Mountain Resort, located in Utah, has announced an ambitious plan for its summer and 2023-24 season. The ski resort is coming off its biggest season ever with a record 700 inches of snowfall, and the upcoming projects aim to further enhance the resort's appeal for skiers, snowboarders, and summer visitors. One of the most significant projects is the replacement of the Eagle Express chairlift with a new six-pack chairlift. The Eagle Express was the first detachable chairlift built in Utah in 1989 and has served the resort well over the years. However, with the older lift model, finding replacement parts has become increasingly challenging. The new chairlift will be constructed by Doppelmayr and is expected to be operational by mid-December 2023. The upgrade will provide visitors with a faster and smoother ride up the mountain, allowing them to spend more time skiing and snowboarding.Solitude Mountain Resort will also be improving its snowmaking capabilities, enabling it to make snow on open runs that previously had to remain closed during snowmaking operations. The upgraded equipment will make the snowmaking process more efficient and sustainable while also allowing the resort to open earlier in the season. The resort's snowmaking infrastructure improvements will include additional water lines, snowmaking guns, and other equipment.
