Arizona may not be the first state that comes to mind when you think of skiing, but believe it or not, there are legitimate ski resorts in the Grand Canyon State. The resort has announced plans to stay open daily through May 7th, and then reopen for weekends through Memorial Day, May 29th. “Everything out there is completely natural. We haven’t made snow since late February. It’s all been up to mother nature, and luckily it’s been a very heavy year for snowfall. We have received 398 inches of snow here at Snowbowl. ” — Angie Grubb, Marketing Coordinator at Arizona Snowbowl To put that in perspective, Arizona Snowbowl typically averages 260 inches of snow per year. The whopping 398 inches that have fallen this season is clearly going a long way, and the resort is still reporting a snow base depth of 89 inches as of May 3rd, 2023.
