The lodge, which had been closed for renovations since April 3rd, was engulfed in flames and rendered a total loss. This catastrophic event presents a significant setback for the ski area as the lodge housed crucial facilities such as restrooms, food services, interpretive exhibits, a rental gear shop, and a gift shop. Miraculously, no injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the incident. Fortunately, the Mountain Operations Center, the other prominent building within the ski area, remained unaffected by the fire. Currently, the National Park Service is actively investigating the cause of the blaze.Expressing deep sorrow, Superintendent Sula Jacobs remarked on the loss of the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge, a cherished structure within the park and a beloved attraction for visitors. Superintendent Jacobs extended gratitude to the Clallam County Fire and Port Angeles Fire Department for their swift response to the incident. Additionally, the outpouring of support from the community has been greatly appreciated as the park and its team strive to move forward from this unfortunate event.
