Spencer and Sara Montgomery, the current owners of West Mountain in Queensbury, New York, have breathed new life into the resort in recent years. Their decade-long ownership has brought about significant improvements, including extensive snowmaking upgrades, the installation of three new lifts, trail widening, and renovations to the lodge. Their racing team, now led by Olympian Thomas Vonn, has experienced rapid growth. As the offseason approaches, the Montgomerys have several projects underway, such as acquiring a new snow groomer, installing new carpeting in the main lodge, and expanding the mountain biking trails. However, these changes are minor compared to what lies ahead. In 2025, the ski resort is set to undergo its most substantial capital improvements to date. The highlight of these planned enhancements is the addition of a high-speed chairlift by Doppelmayr. The current deliberation revolves around whether to install a quad or a six-pack chairlift for this particular area. Presently, this section of the resort is serviced by a fixed-grip triple chairlift. Adjacent to the chairlift's base terminal, a new hotel called The Woods at West Mountain Ski & Stay Resort will be constructed. More information regarding the hotel will be disclosed in the upcoming months. Additionally, the expansion includes the creation of four new trails. While a few of these trails will cater to beginners and intermediate skiers, one will be an expert bump run.
