Arapahoe Basin Opening Sunday October 29th - First In Colorado

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has just announced that it's set to kick off its 2023/24 winter season on Sunday, October 29. This season, Arapahoe Basin aims to be the last resort to close, ensuring visitors enjoy the longest season in Colorado. On the opening day, skiers and riders will have the chance to hit the slopes on High Noon, which can be accessed via the Black Mountain Express. The grand opening will also feature fun perks like duct tape and donuts for the first guests in line, a Halloween-themed band performance from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and a costume contest with fantastic A-Basin swag prizes. The resort is committed to expanding its snow-making efforts and opening more terrain as swiftly as possible, starting with Lenawee Face and Dercum Gulch. It's important to note that opening day is not suitable for beginners, and the learning terrain will open a few weeks later.

Starting this Sunday, the lifts will be in operation from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends (beginning at 9:00 a.m. on weekdays) and will remain open seven days a week throughout the rest of the season.

New This Season – Successes in Sustainability

As of this October, Arapahoe Basin is now operating with 100% renewable electricity and mitigating over 2/3rds of the resort’s carbon emissions. This major achievement was made possible by partnerships with Xcel Energy and many community partners, including Jack’s Solar Farm located in Longmont, Colorado. In 2018, Arapahoe Basin pledged to be carbon neutral by 2025. The success of reaching 100% renewable electricity exemplifies the resort’s sustainability efforts being broad, company-wide, and intentionally built into the culture and business. By conserving and limiting resource use, protecting spectacular natural surroundings, and working hard to educate guests and staff alike, A-Basin is finding ways to walk lighter on the planet – even in ski and snowboard boots.

Coming Up in 2023/24

We’re kicking off another Legendary Season! At A-Basin, we’re made of equal parts people, passion, and powder. Home to skiers, snowboarders, and high-alpine adventure-seekers who appreciate a big mountain experience in an unpretentious setting. We’re offering over 1,400 skiable acres, including some of the most challenging in-bounds terrain in Colorado on the East Wall and Steep Gullies, wide-open Zuma Bowl turns, and one of the most affordable beginner experiences around. We’re Legendary for a reason, see why.

Events

Our A-Basin community is bar none, living out traditions like the 6th Alley Mug Club and The Enduro and creating new ones like our Pride Weekend, which kicked off in 2022. This early season, join us in celebrating snow, the joy of skiing and riding, and each other at signature events.

  • October 29th: Concert and Costume Contest

  • November 18th-19th: Passholder Appreciation Weekend

Expanding our Community

Legends are everywhere and anyone, and they make us who we are. We have partnered with the Colorado Blackpackers, SOS Outreach, Denver Public Library, and our local public schools to lower barriers to entry for skiing, riding, and outdoor summer adventures. If you are interested in getting involved or expanding access to the outdoors, please contact our marketing team at marketing@a-basin.net.

Preserving the Experience

We value quality over quantity, and for that reason, we limit ticket sales every day of the season. We do this to preserve the experience, mitigate crowds, put less stress on the terrain, reduce parking hassles, and shorten lift lines. We’re working to keep A-Basin a beautiful, laid-back ski area with room on the slopes and a seat at the bar.
