Lake Louise Announces Three New Chairlifts

As winter approaches, the first dusting of snow on our magnificent peaks signals the start of another thrilling ski and snowboard season, scheduled to kick off on November 10. While Lake Louise previously unveiled some exciting additions and enhancements for this winter, it's time to share a sneak peek into the major expansions, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements planned for the upcoming seasons at Lake Louise Ski Resort.

Upper Juniper Chairlift (2024/25 Planned Opening)

One week after Sunshine Village's announcement of a new bubble chair with heated seats, Lake Louise is following suit. Foundation work is already in progress for the Upper Juniper detachable quad chairlift, which will seamlessly connect the top of the two-year-old Juniper Express with the Top of the World. This remarkable addition, constructed by Doppelmayr Canada, is set to open for the 2024-25 ski season. The Upper Juniper Chairlift promises to enhance accessibility to the upper mountain and significantly reduce congestion in the base area, even during peak days.

Richardson’s Ridge Chairlift (2025/26 Planned Opening)

Riders can anticipate an expansive offering of new intermediate and advanced terrain with the introduction of the Richardson’s Ridge Chairlift. Plans are underway to install the foundations next summer, with the lift set to be operational in the summer of 2025.

Sunny Side Chairlift (2025/26 Planned Opening)

In line with their commitment to cater to novice skiers and snowboarders, the resort is planning to install a brand-new chairlift in the Learning Area during the summer of 2025. The Sunny Side Chairlift will provide convenient and swift access to our superb beginner terrain.

Upper Mountain Lodge

Exciting plans are in motion for a state-of-the-art mountain top lodge. Positioned between the Gondola and Ptarmigan Chair, construction of this lodge may commence as early as next summer, offering guests a remarkable mountain-top experience.

Snowmaking

To support the new lifts and runs, they will continue to invest in upgrading and modernising our snowmaking systems to ensure optimal conditions for your skiing and snowboarding adventures.

Staff Housing

The dedicated team is the backbone of any ski resort operations. They have already secured sufficient staff accommodations to ensure full operational capacity this season and are actively working on replacing accommodations lost in the Charleston fire.

In anticipation of the 2025-26 season, two additional chairlifts will make their debut – one designed for beginners, called the Sunny Side Chairlift, and another expanding behind Paradise Bowl. Richardson’s Ridge Express will serve an expansive area of intermediate and advanced terrain, while the construction of the second high-speed quad chairlift will span two years, with foundations laid in 2024 and steel installation in 2025. The Sunny Side beginner chairlift will also be constructed during the summer of '25, offering easy access to our fantastic beginner terrain.
