Mt. Hood Meadows Installs EV Charging Station Ahead of 2023-24 Season

Mt. Hood Meadows has elevated the winter recreation experience for electric vehicle (EV) drivers by installing a cutting-edge EV charging station just in time for the 2023-24 season. Skiers and snowboarders can now power up their EVs while hitting the slopes, thanks to the resort's collaboration with Pacific Energy Concepts (PEC) to install three FLO Level 2 Core+ Max charging pedestals.

Equipped with two charging plugs each, the station accommodates up to six vehicles simultaneously. Strategically located at the front of the resort's main lot, near the Sahale Lodge side, the charging station ensures convenient access for winter enthusiasts seeking to recharge their rides. These universal chargers, boasting 7.2 kW or 19.2 kW of charging power, are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and have already proven their reliability in other ski resorts and even the Arctic.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Operating on a first-come, first-serve basis, the chargers are available daily from 7 AM to 10 PM during winter operations. However, accessibility may be limited during peak times when the main lot is full. The charging rate is set at $0.42 per kW, with a maximum session duration of 4 hours. Users exceeding this limit will incur a penalty charge of $50 per hour after a 15-minute grace period. Following charging sessions, users are kindly asked to relocate their vehicles to open parking spots.

To streamline the charging experience, motorists can leverage the FLO app or explore partnering networks and apps, including Plugshare, Ultium 360, Ford Blue Oval, ChargePoint, and Shell Recharge. Additionally, various roaming partners such as BC Hydro, ChargePoint, Electric Circuit, E-Charge Network, and Shell Recharge Solutions facilitate payment processing through their respective apps or access cards.

With this forward-thinking initiative, Mt. Hood Meadows is not only embracing sustainable transportation but also enhancing the overall winter adventure for EV drivers, making it a win-win for both the environment and winter sports enthusiasts.
