Selwyn Snow Resort Triumphs: Advanced Terrain Returns After Five-Year Hiatus In a landmark achievement, Selwyn Snow Resort in Australia's Snowy Mountains has reopened its Race Course T-Bar, bringing its challenging black runs back to life after a five-year absence. This momentous occasion allows skiers and riders to once again tackle the resort's most demanding slopes – Racecourse, Gallah's Gully, and Pig Gully. The journey to this point has been far from smooth for the New South Wales-based ski resort. In 2020, Selwyn faced devastation as bushfires razed the resort to the ground. The following year saw a rebuilding effort, but nature had other plans. An abundance of pre-season snow in 2022 prevented the resort from opening its doors. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Selwyn Snow Resort (@selwynsnow) 2023 brought its own set of challenges, with Selwyn forced to cut its season short in August due to insufficient snow cover. These setbacks tested the resilience of the Blyton family, who own both Selwyn and its sister resort, Charlotte Pass. The latter faced its own misfortune earlier this year when a fire in the sewage treatment plant delayed its 2024 season opening until July 5.Today's reopening of Selwyn's advanced terrain is more than just a return to full operations – it's a testament to the resort's enduring spirit. Local skiers and riders have expressed their excitement, with the mood at the resort described as jubilant.Selwyn Snow Resort has been a cornerstone of the Australian ski industry since 1966. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere, it often serves as the first snow experience for many, igniting a lifelong passion for winter sports. The reopening of its advanced terrain not only caters to experienced skiers and riders but also symbolises the full revival of this beloved resort. As Selwyn celebrates this proud moment, it reaffirms its place in Australia's skiing landscape. The resort's ability to overcome adversity and return stronger than ever is a positive sign for the entire industry, demonstrating the resilience and dedication required to thrive in the face of challenges.
