Big Sky Resort Overhauls Lone Peak Tram Access: What Skiers and Riders Need to Know Starting next winter, Big Sky Resort is changing how skiers and riders access its famous Lone Peak Tram. The Montana ski resort has decided to include unlimited tram rides with daily and pre-purchased lift tickets, removing the need for additional per-ride fees. This change marks a shift from the 2021 policy, which separated tram access from lift tickets and charged skiers on a per-use basis. The resort implemented this approach to control traffic on Lone Mountain, but now they're trying a new approach. “The new tram has exceeded expectations in every way. We promised we would reevaluate the tram experience each year, and this move provides flexibility and value with our product lineup while offering more guests access to Lone Peak.” — Troy Nedved, Big Sky General Manager While daily ticket holders will enjoy unlimited tram access, some pass holders will still face separate charges. Ikon, Mountain Collective, and certain Big Sky pass holders will use an auto-charge system for tram rides. These fees are expected to range from $10 to $40, depending on demand. Scenic rides will be offered at a lower price. For frequent visitors, Big Sky offers two season pass options with different levels of tram access:Gold Season Pass ($2,400): Includes unlimited tram accessDouble Black Season Pass ($2,200): Includes 25 ski or snowboard tram ridesDespite these changes, Big Sky will continue to monitor skier and rider traffic to prevent overcrowding on Lone Mountain.

Early December and late April offer tickets as low as $56, while peak season prices can exceed $200. Most tickets fall between $100 and $200.Even with tram access now included in lift tickets, multi-pass options might still offer better value for some skiers and riders. It's worth comparing these options based on how often you plan to hit the slopes.Big Sky Resort's projected opening day for the 2024-2025 winter season is November 27, 2024. With these new changes to tram access, skiers and riders can look forward to an exciting season at one of Montana's premier ski resort.
