Val d’Isère’s New Gondola: Fast Access to High-Altitude Skiing Val d’Isère is introducing its brand-new Vallon Gondola this winter, making it quicker than ever for skiers and riders to reach the high-altitude slopes of the Pisaillas Glacier, located at 3,185 meters. This new gondola will carry up to 10 passengers at a time, taking just 6.5 minutes to make the ascent. The Pisaillas sector first became accessible in 1972 with the installation of the Col drag lift. In 1986, the Vallon TCD6 gondola was introduced, providing improved access to the high-altitude terrain. After nearly 40 years of service, the new gondola will replace it, offering panoramic views and a smoother, faster ride. This upgrade not only enhances convenience for skiers and riders but also demonstrates a commitment to environmental preservation. The new lift was installed along the path of the old one, minimising the impact on the surrounding wildlife and plant life. The number of pylons required has been significantly reduced, and all protected flowers in the area were carefully transplanted to ensure their survival.
