Four Seasons Transforms Historic Swiss Hotel with $110M Investment in Luxury Alpine Experience

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is set to add another jewel to its crown with the transformation of the historic Park Gstaad Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland. The iconic property, which has graced the Swiss Alps since 1910, will undergo a $110 million renovation before reopening as "The Park Gstaad, A Four Seasons Hotel" in May 2026.

The renovation project, led by Squircle Capital and renowned interior designer Joseph Dirand, will preserve the hotel's rich heritage while introducing modern luxury amenities. Property owner Dona Bertarelli, part of the influential Swiss-Italian family behind Merck-Serono, sees this transformation as a way to honour the hotel's legacy while elevating its status in luxury hospitality.

The reimagined property will feature 71 rooms and 4 suites, complemented by 5 exclusive penthouse residences available for purchase under Four Seasons management. Skiers and riders will appreciate the hotel's prime location, offering easy access to 220 kilometers of slopes and terrain at elevations reaching 3,000 meters.

Beyond winter sports, the new Park Gstaad will offer comprehensive year-round amenities including a destination spa, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, and a winter ice rink. The property will also cater to corporate gatherings with six sophisticated meeting spaces designed for high-end events and seminars.

Located in the heart of the Bernese Oberland, the hotel provides convenient access to Gstaad's renowned village promenade while maintaining its serene alpine setting. The destination is easily reached within two hours from Geneva and offers quick connections to Bern Airport.

The renovation plans emphasise sustainability and staff well-being, with upgraded employee accommodations ensuring the hotel's commitment to exceptional service. Martin Rhomberg, Regional Vice President of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, views this project as a strategic addition to the company's growing collection of alpine properties, which includes locations in Megève, Whistler, and Jackson Hole.

When The Park Gstaad reopens under the Four Seasons banner in 2026, it will join an elite group of alpine luxury hotels, setting new standards for hospitality in the Swiss Alps while honouring its historic roots in one of Switzerland's most prestigious mountain destinations.
