A-Basin COO Confirms Expanded Ikon Pass Benefits While Maintaining Parking Reservation System
Arapahoe Basin COO Alan Henceroth has revealed major changes coming to Ikon Pass benefits for the 2025/26 ski season. Starting next winter, skiers with the full Ikon Pass will enjoy unlimited access to A-Basin, while Ikon Base Pass holders will receive 5 days with no blackout dates.
This expansion comes alongside A-Basin's commitment to their parking reservation system, which Henceroth describes as "the most effective way to control the number of people arriving to ski." The reservation system will continue to play a crucial role in managing visitor numbers while maintaining the quality experience that A-Basin is known for.

"In our wild, crazy and changing world, we remain committed to preserving the A-Basin experience," Henceroth stated. "By adding parking reservations and offering unlimited access to A-Basin on Ikon Pass, we will preserve that experience, manage the peak days, boost the soft days and continue to be steadfast and reliable for our employees, our guests and our community."
The first season under Alterra ownership with parking reservations has been successful according to A-Basin management. The resort is focusing on two key challenges: maintaining high-quality experiences during peak periods and increasing visitation during quieter days to support their extended season and sustainability goals.
With this change, the Ikon Pass will essentially function as an A-Basin season pass for the 2025/26 season. This gives holders access not only to A-Basin but also to neighbouring resorts like Winter Park, Copper Mountain, and Steamboat, plus iconic destinations including Mammoth Mountain, Palisades Tahoe, Aspen Snowmass, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Big Sky, Taos and Alta. International options include Zermatt, Chamonix, Niseko and Valle Nevado. Henceroth describes the 2025/26 Ikon Pass as "the greatest season pass ever made." A-Basin will still offer a resort-specific season pass with additional benefits.

A-Basin reports impressive results from their parking reservation system through March 2:
- Zero days where A-Basin completely filled all parking
- Zero days where A-Basin parking contributed to highway problems
- Zero people turned away due to parking or highway issues
- An average of 3.0 skiers per parking reservation (up from 1.8 in 22/23)
- 29.7% of parking reservations included carpools with 4 or more people
- 42.2% of skiers arrived at A-Basin sustainably (carpool 4+, electric vehicles, Summit Stage, or Snowstang) on reservation days
For A-Basin, this strategy represents a balanced approach to growth while preserving the unique atmosphere that makes the resort special. By combining unlimited Ikon Pass access with controlled parking, they aim to distribute visitation more evenly throughout their season while maintaining the high-quality experience their guests expect.
