Alyeska Resort Breaks 600-Inch Snowfall Milestone

Alyeska Resort in Alaska has once again proven its status as a top snow destination in North America. The resort recently surpassed 600 inches of snowfall for the current season, with the latest measurement showing 601 inches. This impressive total comes just a month after the resort crossed the 500-inch mark. Alyeska's current base depth stands at a substantial 149 inches, providing skiers and riders with excellent conditions.

Alyeska's snowfall figures are particularly noteworthy when compared to other North American ski resorts. Only four other resorts have managed to reach the 500-inch mark this season, highlighting Alyeska's exceptional snow accumulation. The resort has a track record of high snowfall totals, having exceeded 500 inches seven times in recent years. Some notable past seasons include 740 inches last year, 785 inches in the 2022-23 season, and 735 inches in 2020-21.

On average, Alyeska receives about 650 inches of snow on its upper mountain and 512 inches at mid-mountain elevations. The resort's record-breaking year was 2012, with an astonishing 978 inches of snowfall. While impressive, this falls short of the world record for a ski area, which stands at 1,140 inches, set by Mt. Baker in Washington during the 1998-99 season.

For skiers and riders looking for the deepest snow this season, Alyeska Resort is clearly a top choice. Its consistent high snowfall totals and current 600-inch milestone make it an attractive destination for those seeking prime skiing conditions. As the season progresses, Alyeska continues to demonstrate why it's considered one of North America's snowiest ski resorts, offering visitors the chance to experience truly remarkable snow depths.
