Australian Ski Resorts Invest Heavily in 2025 Season Improvements

Australian ski resorts are making substantial investments to enhance the skiing and snowboarding experience for the 2025 season. From new chairlifts to advanced snowmaking technology, these upgrades aim to provide better snow coverage, improved terrain access, and more diverse riding options for skiers and riders of all levels.

Perisher is leading the charge with a $26 million investment in the Mt Perisher 6, a high-speed six-seater chairlift that promises to reduce ride times by 44%. This upgrade will allow for more laps and improved access to a variety of terrain options.

Other resorts are following suit with their own improvements. Corin Forest has acquired two TechnoAlpin Snow Factories to ensure reliable snow coverage, even in challenging climate conditions. Charlotte Pass is replacing its iconic Guthries High Speed Poma with a new double chairlift, enhancing access to advanced terrain.

Falls Creek is upgrading its snowmaking capabilities on Drovers Dream, installing 12 new automated snow guns to extend terrain availability throughout the season. Selwyn Snow Resort is also boosting its snowmaking arsenal with new TechnoAlpin guns strategically placed to improve coverage on key runs.

Hotham is taking a different approach by transforming the Big D terrain into a progression-focused freestyle and terrain park. This new area will feature various jump and rail lines, a permanent mogul course, and a mini boarder cross course, catering to riders looking to improve their skills.

These investments reflect the Australian ski industry's commitment to enhancing the overall guest experience and adapting to changing climate conditions. By focusing on efficient lift systems, advanced snowmaking technology, and diverse terrain offerings, ski resorts are positioning themselves to provide consistent and enjoyable snow experiences for years to come.

The NSW Government has also played a role in shaping the future of skiing in Australia, with the implementation of the Alpine Region Development Control Plan 2025. This plan provides guidelines for development in the NSW Alpine Region, ensuring that growth aligns with environmental and community needs.

As Australian ski resorts continue to evolve and improve, skiers and riders can look forward to better snow conditions, reduced lift queues, and more varied terrain options for the 2025 season and beyond.
