New Chairlift to Elevate Perisher's Ski Experience

Perisher, Australia's largest ski resort, is set to enhance its overall offering with the construction of the Mt Perisher 6 chairlift. This new addition will significantly improve the skiing and riding experience by increasing uplift capacity and reaching a new milestone in Australian skiing.

The Mt Perisher 6 chairlift is designed to boost capacity on its route by 60%, allowing more skiers and riders to access the slopes efficiently. Notably, it will transport guests to Australia's new highest lift-served point at an elevation of 2,042 metres. While this is only eight metres higher than the current highest point, the strategic positioning of the lift's upper terminal will unlock access to considerable new terrain.

The removal of old lift infrastructure has played a key role in this expansion. Pylons from outdated lifts have been taken down, with 27 towers from the previous Mt P Double and Triple chairs replaced by just 10 towers for the new lift. This reduction in infrastructure opens up more skiable area for resort visitors.

The new high-speed, six-seater chairlift promises to significantly reduce ride times. Skiers and riders can expect a 44% faster ascent, with the journey time cut from 10 minutes to just 5½ minutes. This improvement will allow for more runs and less time spent on lifts.

Perisher's commitment to enhancing its infrastructure reflects its position as a leading ski resort in Australia. The resort typically begins its ski season in early June, and the new Mt Perisher 6 chairlift is expected to be operational for the 2025 season. This upgrade will likely attract skiers and riders looking to experience Australia's highest lift-served point and explore the newly accessible terrain.
