Loveland Ski Area Modernises Beginner Lift

Loveland Ski Area has announced plans to replace its ageing Lift 7 for the 2025-26 ski season. The 42-year-old fixed-grip double chair will be upgraded to a modern Leitner-Poma fixed-grip quad. Despite the new lift's four-person capacity, Loveland will limit seating to three people per chair to ensure comfort for learners. Lift 7 serves the Loveland Valley area, which features gentle slopes ideal for beginners.

The USDA Forest Service approved the lift replacement on April 23, 2025, as Loveland operates on the Arapahoe National Forest. Installation is set to begin in the summer of 2025, with the new lift ready for the 2025/2026 season. While Lift 7 only covers 129 vertical feet, the upgrade will boost uphill capacity, allowing new skiers and riders to practice more runs throughout the day. Loveland will offer a limited number of chairs from the old lift for purchase through a lottery open to 2025/2026 season pass holders and employees.

In addition to the lift upgrade, Loveland plans to improve the Zig Zag trail, a green run off Lift 3, by reshaping it for better snow retention and skier flow. Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 season, the ski area aims to expand its parking facilities with a new lot to handle peak period crowds. These improvements demonstrate Loveland's commitment to enhancing the visitor experience, particularly for those new to skiing and snowboarding. The ski area continues to invest in its infrastructure, balancing modern upgrades with the preservation of its laid-back atmosphere that appeals to both beginners and seasoned skiers alike.
