Mt Hutt Kicks Off 2025 Ski Season Earlier Than Planned

Mt Hutt ski resort in New Zealand has announced it will open two weeks ahead of schedule for the 2025 ski season. The early opening comes after a substantial snowstorm blanketed the resort with 120 centimetres of snow, forming a solid base for skiing and snowboarding. This decision makes Mt Hutt the first resort in Australasia to welcome skiers and riders for the 2025 season.

The resort will begin operations on May 31, marking its earliest opening since 2009. Initially, Mt Hutt will operate on weekends only, with daily operations commencing from June 14. The early opening weekend coincides with the King's Birthday holiday, providing an extra opportunity for skiers and riders to hit the slopes.

While the resort is opening ahead of schedule, management has noted that the available terrain and lift operations will depend on weather conditions. Visitors are advised to check Mt Hutt's official website and social media channels for the most up-to-date information on open runs and facilities as the opening day approaches.

The revised schedule for Mt Hutt's 2025 season is as follows:
- Weekend openings: May 31, June 1-2, and June 7-8
- Daily operations: From June 14 onwards
- Planned closing date: October 12

Mt Hutt, located in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island, is known for its reliable snow conditions and long season. The resort offers a variety of terrain suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers and riders.
