Tūroa Ski Area Prepares for 2025 Winter Season
Tūroa Ski Area on Mt. Ruapehu, New Zealand, has announced its plans for the 2025 winter season. The area will open for hospitality and snow play in Alpine Meadow from May 31, with skiing and snowboarding set to begin on June 28, coinciding with the start of New Zealand school holidays. Joanna Campbell, Tūroa's Marketing Manager, stated that the team is prepared to welcome visitors back to Mt. Ruapehu for the winter season.

Starting May 2025, Tūroa will introduce new pass options, including multi-day anytime passes and two, five, and seven-day consecutive passes. These options aim to provide flexibility for visitors who don't want to commit to a full season pass. Tūroa boasts New Zealand's longest winter ski season, offering good value with its early bird season pass.
The ski area is expected to remain open for sightseeing and snow play until October 5, with upper mountain skiing and snowboarding continuing through the October long weekend, subject to weather and snow conditions. Skiers and riders are encouraged to purchase early bird season passes online at turoa.com before May 14, 2025.

Early bird season pass rates for 2025 are as follows:
- Adult (17-64 years): NZD 899 (USD 534)
- Platinum pass with priority parking and exclusive perks: NZD 1,899 (USD 1,127)
- Youth (6-16 years): NZD 299 (USD 177)
- Seniors 65+: NZD 599 (USD 356)
- Student: NZD 549 (USD 326)

Tūroa is located on Mt. Ruapehu on New Zealand's North Island, about 4.5 hours from Auckland and Wellington. The ski area features New Zealand's longest vertical descent at 722 metres (2,369 feet) and the country's highest lifted point at 2,322 metres (7,618 feet), accessible via the Highnoon Express Chair. Lift operations will begin progressively from late June, depending on snow and weather conditions.
